Following in the footsteps of his beloved grandfather, Eli finally decides to give his life to Christ. He finds the Christian life anything but "boring!" He must go through many trials as he endeavors to become the next "Defender of the Realms." The author uses very descriptive, thought-provoking words to make the reader think about his/her own life. I wouldn't be surprised if this book becomes an all-time favorite classic!

Thomas There are many stories written today based on various tales from the mythology of current and ancient cultures. When I heard about the Biblical basis for this story, I was curious how it would hold up in terms of the storytelling and "believeability". "Would the average individual, regardless of contextual knowledge, be able to pick up this book and get hooked?" The answer is a resounding "YES"!The Calling captures the imagination of the reader right from the beginning of the story. The ability of the author to create so vividly the celestial setting and confrontations completely captured my attention and led my imagination to place myself right in the middle of the action. The main characters were very well written. Eli's transformation from the average teenager full of anger to a courageous crusader willing to risk everything was dramatic and believable. All the supporting characters Eli meets are full of life and personality. Descriptions of realms found throughout the book are dramatically intricate, showing not just a creative reference but a detailed plan for each place. The pace of the story was satisfying. As I finished the book, my mind was flooded with so many questions regarding where future books will take our Eli.This book made a story that I am familiar with become new and exciting all over again. Whether the reader is familiar with the context or not, the story will become exciting and fresh, prompting the question "when is the next installment coming out?"

We just stumbled upon your book after finishing "The Chronicles of Narnia" with our 4 kids, it was a fantastic book that definitely holds its own with a classic!!!Our 6 & 8 year olds were begging for your next book when we finished last night. Little did we know that we are going to have to tell them it will have to wait until Christmas :-?This book offers a fantastic portrayal of what it means to "put your flesh to death" and has the great ability to put spiritual truths out there in a manner which even our 4 year old can understand.A very good book for ALL ages exciting, great Bibilical truths, it had our kids completely engaged and even acting out Elijah Storm and jumping off the couch to cheer him on!!We can hardly wait for "Defenders of the Realms series, “The Claiming"!!!
