Most Bible programs can do the concordance search way quicker than anyone with a print concordance.Except those results are sometimes too comprehensive--if you're using one Bible, do you need the extra info from fourteen translations? What is a concordance? This is an index of every word used in the NIV translation of the Bible. For example, how many times (and where) does the NIV use the word "Father?" or "Rabbit?" You turn to the word, see the heading info and you can see how many and where. So, the hardcover has value. Additionally, it's easier to show someone else what you are doing by working through the hardcover concordance. Now, to this one:1. Exhaustive--and exhausting to lug about. I'm fairly certain they got everything here. I had the 2nd edition, and it was pretty close to right on. This one has a better digital database to build on, so most everything is there.2. The use of the G/K numbering system is helpful. You can actually use the numbers to find the Greek or Hebrew word and then find that number keyed to several of the major lexical works in that language. It is no substitute for learning the languages, but it's helpful.3. I don't know why they compare to Strong's, since Strong's is a concordance of the KJV. Still, it's quite handy.4. An additional use of the numbering system illustrates the difficulties of translation: one word like "love" may translate several original language words. By seeing the differing numbers, you can link up the different words for study.5. If all else fails, this is an excellent self-defense tool.I find the NIV Exhaustive Concordance better than my NASB Concordance--which is a pill, since I prefer NASB as a translation. Still, this is a great study tool for serious Bible students even if you prefer a different translation.

But I didn't realize how shaky this video is compared to my other videos. I'll try and re-record and upload another.==========================Nicely organized book.Size of font is as compact as it should be.For the Bible student, having the Hebrew and Greek sections are a nice benefit.Since some of the Bible was also originally written in Aramaic, I don't know why an Aramaic section is rarely if ever included or talked about in Bible school. There may be a good reason, I just don't know what it is and am wondering why it isn't included if people want to get to the actual root word of some parts.NIV is a nice balance between readability of The Living translation and accuracy/literal translation of NASB/ESV. There is enough information here to let one find what they are looking for, then look up the reference and re-read in the version of their choice.OVERALL: I think it is as portable as that much material can be made without going digital. Nicely done.

Brown I have heard it said, in selecting a Bible concordance, Cruden's is for the crude, Young's is for the young, and Strong's is for the strong. Now we can add, the NIV Exhaustive Concordance is for the exhausted. All joking aside, this is the most comprehensive Bible concordance ever made. It includes 29,510 references to the word "and" and 2,314 references to the word "son" (covered on 9 pages of 3-column 7-point type). Unlike other major concordances, there are no phrases included -- just individual words. So, if you want to look up "son of man" or "Son of God" you have to thumb through all 2,000+ entries under "son".Zondervan Publishing House, producer of this book, states that "Only this concordance provides a complete index of every appearance of every word in the NIV Bible; it's a must-own for every reader of the NIV Bible. More accurate and comprehensive than online searches and Strong's concordances, and offering complete access to the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek from which the NIV was translated, this award-winning resource promises to make your Bible study the very best."This 1,621-page book lives up to its claim of being exhaustive. The first 1,354 pages include references to all words used in the New International Version of the Bible, with articles (such as "and") indexed on pages 1,301 through 1,354. The Biblical Language Dictionary Indexes (for Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek) occupy the next 222 pages, followed by 45 pages of numbering system indexes (Strong to Goodrick/Kohlenberger numbers and and Goodrick/Kohlenberger to Strong numbers). It is probably safe to say that this book was made possible only by the age of electronic computing. To index so many things in such an exhaustive manner would take many scribes working together for many centuries (assuming they could avoid making numerous errors along the way). Sadly, the very exhaustiveness of the presentation left me quite cold, despite the fact that I generally am a bibliophile who enjoys scholarly works.I suggest that this comprehensive volume will be of interest mainly to serious Bible scholars. The typical Bible reader (or even Bible study leader) will certainly find Cruden's, Young's or Strong's to be more appropriate, And, there are versions of these less-exhaustive concordances available online at little or no cost.
