Nice combination of ancient and modern, reverence and thought-provoking fun By Sheila Deeth A nice blend of ancient and modern, Life of Noah starts where volume I of this series left off, with young Noah obsessed with model boats and his father Lamech dearly wishing he’d show more interest in the family zoo. Across the river are scary giants who, “Legend had it... were descendants of wicked angels who had seduced and raped women,” so perhaps these aren’t simple children’s stories, any more than the Bible is a book of childish things. In fact, as the introduction declares, “’aliens’ are people who don’t feel like they fit in.” So these stories are for all of us, unless you’re one of that select few who do fit.The language is simple and easy to read. The situations are Biblical yet thoroughly modern. Animal mutilations, crop circles, smart phones and computer games abound. And Noah grows up, travels the world, sees its wickedness, then hears a message of hope. He’s followed by pharaohs, patriarchs and kings in tales that amuse, bemuse, confuse, and ultimately refuse to be ignored.Fun dialog, interesting concepts, and exciting immediacy make these stories the perfect way for teens or adults to revisit the familiar. Then there are the epilogues, where descendants review or distort, and truly modern interpretations/deceits take center court. The reader is invited to think, and this book is a good read, a modern retelling with vim and verve, great fun, and wisely done.Disclosure: It was free so I bought it and enjoyed it.

What a brilliant interpretation of a Bible story By Yvonne Crowe Another cracking funny Bible story by Adrian Pelzer as he continues to introduce us to the Bible. I love his whacky sense of humor as he writes about ancient role models from a modern viewpoint.And so we came to Noah His characters are flawed human beings on their own personal mission and going about things in the best way they can.And so we come to Noah. His Dad Lamech is a zookeeper who laments his son is not looking like following in his footsteps but spends his time on his computer with a program called Boatcraft. He was not interested in the gorefest games such as Grand Hunt Nephilim where a player representing one of these fallen angels - now land based giants - could gain points by hunting, dismembering and eating humans.By the time he was twenty he spent his time between travelling the known world on the boats he built and studying the animal and bird life. It really helped that he could communicate with them. So he was ready when the big flood threatened.Can you imagine what the writer’s dreams must be like? Not only in vivid technicolor but with a cast of characters that rival Jim Henson’s Muppet world.You have to buy and read this book. Some TV producer is missing out by not making a series out of Adrian’s books. His brilliance staggers me.

Believers and non-believers alike will find this book fascinating. His humorous approach to storytelling is remarkably entertaining. Children of all ages will enjoy this modern interpretation of the Life of Noah in this affable story.Adrian succeeded in painting a luscious tale filled with amicable characters. From the very beginning, the young Noah knew he was different. His obsession with model boats worries his parents. But his father, Lamech has other plans for young Noah. The Ararat Zoo is in need of upkeep.Who is going to protect the animals from the giants across the river? The Nephilim were intimidating and mysterious, they have hunted Noah since he was a child, Lamech must convince his son to make a stand against them and to care for the animals. In time, Noah grew up. He travel the world, his uncanny gift to communicate with the animals would ultimately prepare them for the end of the world.Although Life of Noah is a short book there are other intriguing biblical references and stories embedded in the story. I find the book at times, unconventional and even controversial. But if you read with an open mind, you will find a rather enjoyable interpretation of an old classical story.
