About the Author
Mother Mary Francis, P.C.C., (1921 2006) was for more than forty years the abbess of the Poor Clare Monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Roswell, New Mexico. She is recognized as an authoritative voice for contemplative spirituality, prayer and the renewal of religious life. She wrote many books, including A Right to Be Merry and Come, Lord Jesus, which is a collection of her reflections for Advent.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The real Lenten experience By Robert M This is the best lenten book I have ever read and each year for decades I pick a new book to read. If you are a Franciscan I would give this another 5 stars because she is a second order poor clare sister. This book taught me and continues to teach me the true meaning of lent every day. I have learned so much that my pastor is thinking about the questions I am asking. It is bringing me closer to God and I am gaining knowledge about my own stumbling blocks. The meditations are worth reading a couple of times during the day just to keep centered on what lent means. It's not about giving up chocolate. It about giving up what is blocking you from conversion and repentance. Mother hits you square in the eye, so don't expect a nice platitude for each day. This is a serious but joyful book for people who want to at least try to make the turn to find the way as she puts it. In a joyful way, she brings you closer and closer to the Easter event and heightens the anticipation of what lies ahead. And what lies ahead is the joy she feels from the wisdom she has gained and in sharing it with all of us.
