Maxwell book worth r By Christine Abraham If you could spend a few minutes with biblical heroines what valuable lessons would you discover? Wisdom From Women in the Bible by John C. Maxwell is built upon stories of Ruth, Sarah, Rahab, Hannah, Abigail, Miriam, Mary the mother of Jesus, Martha, and the Samaritan woman at the well. These women are identified by Maxwell as “giants of faith” and each has a strong message on faith and leadership.In this book, Maxwell uses a narrative format as the reader imagines herself in face-to-face conversation with each of these historical women. Using an imaginary encounter, he walks through the pages of Scripture and examines the hearts of nine women. Through this encounter, they “speak into our lives” by bringing application into everyday life.Each book chapter includes a heart-summary, lessons learned, leadership lessons, and a prayer. A unique feature is the “Woman-to-Woman” revelation, where Maxwell includes a female reflection on these nine women. At the end of each chapter is a topical reading assignment with discussion questions for small group, personal study or journaling.This is not a complicated book overflowing with theories; rather it’s simplified to the easiest method of understanding. Insightful Women's Devotional/study By Christina Ryan Claypool What could be better than a Biblical example of what God would want a woman to do in a specific situation? It is rare that we have the opportunity to read a book about a female leader's point of view. That's why the leadership lessons gleaned from this specific John Maxwell title are valuable to women in all walks of life.Yet it is important to remember that some of what is shared is fictional narrative based on both the writer's imagination (Charlie Wetzel writing for Maxwell) and the text, as opposed to literal text.For those who want an academic scholarly work, this might not be the book for you. But it is a spiritually uplifting and insightful look at what Biblical women might have thought and felt as they executed their God-given mission based on Scripturally historical facts.Lessons included:"Ruth taught us to follow out heart to find hope."Sarah said we shouldn't complicate God's promise with our solution."Rahab told us that God's story is full of surprises.""Hannah explained that God blesses the promises we keep to him."Abigail said that a single act of wisdom can change our destiny."Miriam told us that comparison with others can rob us of our joy."Mary exhorted us not to miss our moment with God."Martha taught that when Jesus is in the house, we should give him our full attention."The Samaritan Woman said that God will always go out of his way for us." pgs. 149-150I used this small book as a daily devotional study. However, I read the suggested Scriptures presented at each chapter's end first before reading the narrative, instead of waiting until the end of each chapter as the book instructed. I think the reader will find this beneficial to understanding the storyline in the chapter if the text is read and studied a bit first. Excellent addition at each chapter's end by John Maxwell's female family regarding their take of the Biblical women presented.

I have always loved the Book of Ruth and was excited to see that author John Maxwell not only included Ruth in this book but addressed her first. The reader will also meet Sarah, Rahab, Hannah, Abigail, Miriam, Mary the mother of Jesus, Martha, and the Samaritan woman at the well.Imagine yourself sitting at the feet of these women one at a time, asking questions, discussing their life and what we can learn from her. That is the format of this incredible book. Each woman speaks to us in everyday language and showing us how to apply their message to our life. In each chapter the reader will find a heart-summary, lessons learned, leadership lessons, a reading assignment and discussion questions that can be used for a small group setting, personal study or journaling and prayer. The Woman to Woman section is enlightening. This book is written in a simple easy to read and understand style but do not let that deter you from reading this book for it is filled with strong concepts and is scripturally based. Wisdom From Women in the Bible is an inspiring book.
