Travel with me, down the road that leads from Jerusalem to Emmaus--a distance of some seven miles. It is Sunday, the third day since Jesus has been crucified. Mary arrives early in the Morning at Jesus tomb and returns to tell the disciples that His body is no longer where He was placed after His death. Mary, Peter, and John have reported to the other followers of Jesus that He has risen from the dead, just as He promised He would. Many of Jesus followers are uncertain at this point if He really is alive. Two of Jesus disciples, Cleopas and one other--who is not named, are in a state of despair as they walk along this road leading out of Jerusalem. While on this journey, these two men are discussing the events that have led up to the crucifixion of Jesus and His subsequent death. Suddenly, unknown to these two disciples, Jesus comes along to join them as they walk. He asks why they are so sad. Not knowing at this point that they are speaking to the Lord, they convey to this stranger that they had hoped that Jesus was the Messiah. They state that their hopes are now dashed as they are not certain that He really was the promised one--since He was put to death on the cross. They were expecting a conquering Messiah, not a suffering and dying Servant.Jesus takes these two men through the Hebrew scriptures, beginning with Moses--in the Law, and continuing through all the Prophets. He shows them each of the Prophecies of the Messiah and How they were fulfilled by His life, death, and resurrection."Then Jesus said to them, "O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?" And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself." --Luke 24:25-27What were the Old Testament scriptures that Jesus showed these disciples? They are the very same prophecies that are contained within this book.It is impossible to fully understand the Bible or the purpose for which Jesus came into the world--apart from a good working knowledge of these prophecies that Jesus expounded upon as He walked along the road to Emmaus. The leaders of Israel, the Jews who lived in Jerusalem, and the followers of Jesus--all had a difficult time understanding everything that Jesus had said and done. It was only after these Hebrew prophecies were fully explained to those who had followed Him, that they understood the purpose for His arrival on the earth. This book is a 3,000 page treatise that lists the 365 Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah that Jesus fulfilled in the New Testament. Each prophecy is fully explained and includes a section of application where the importance of these events are applied--in context with our lives today.Everything that Jesus said and did, rests upon His ability to fulfill all of the words of Moses and the Prophets. God gave these extremely detailed and difficult prophecies to us--so that we might be able to validate the claims of any person who claimed to be the Messiah. How is it possible to write in describing these explicit details unless the author had actually seen the events take place before they happened? These truly are incredible predictions when we consider the extreme difficulty and precision required to fulfill the many specific details contained within these hundreds of prophecies.Jesus was not a helpless and condemned man, dying upon a cross with no control over anything that happened to Him. He not only told Moses and the Prophets what to write, thousands of years before these events took place, He controlled the specific details of each fulfillment to ensure the precise outcome. Jesus exhibits stunning control over all these circumstances--so that we might be able to understand and believe that His is the True Messiah.

From the Author Nearly forty years ago, I overheard a professor of Biblical studies state that the Book of Revelation was written in code. He said that the answers to these coded words and phrases were found throughout the Bible. I was quite intrigued by this statement. Like many others, I had always assumed that the Bible was nothing more than old stories in a very old book. I began to read through the portions of the Bible which made prophetic predictions. I studied the historical data which verified that the writing of these specific prophecies were written from hundreds to thousands of years, before this text was recorded in the ancient Hebrew scrolls. When I arrived at the words of Moses and the Prophets who wrote in such graphic detail about the coming Messiah, I was stunned. These were not cursory descriptions of events that could easily be fulfilled by any person. These were predictions that contained specific details that would be impossible for any one person to fulfill. I set about to understand these predictions in light of the records of the Jewish leaders of Israel and the Roman government, during the time that Jesus is alleged to have arrived in Jerusalem. I discovered that the Jewish Talmud and the Annals of Rome, both contained a record of Jesus' crucifixion and death. The events that these two governments described, concerning Jesus' arrest and crucifixion--matched the gospel records of the New Testament--precisely. It was impossible that both the Jews and the Romans, who were quite hostile towards Jesus and His followers, could have written in their records that Jesus lived and died in Jerusalem, if these events did not take place. Suddenly, the tired old Bible that I had been told was not a reliable record of history, became a narrative of authority. As I studied the thousands of copies of the New Testament that we have in our possession today, I discovered that the men who recorded the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, were honest men who had told the truth. The entire purpose of Jesus arrival here on earth, was to fulfill all the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah. These facts began a very long journey that culminated in 40 years of study, research, writing, and editing. The Prophecies of the Messiah is the result of that journey.
From the Inside Flap If God exists, He must be a Being of incalculable complexity. If He can be known at all, our knowledge of Him will depend upon our ability to receive Him as He presents Himself. We may have our ideas about what we imagine God would be like--we would be wrong. When Solomon was nearing the completion of the Temple, he realized that the God to whom He was dedicating this structure, was beyond his ability to comprehend. 1 Kings 8:27 "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built! An eternal and infinitely intelligent Being would choose a manner to make Himself know that is very likely--divergent from our suppositions of such a Being. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. --Isaiah 55:8-9 If God exists, there would be evidence of His Being. We could observe Him by the things that He has made. His character and nature could be perceived by His creation so that any thinking person could understand what He is like. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead... The Being we are seeking is antecedent all other things. "In the beginning God" (Genesis 1). Matter did not exist first because matter cannot cause itself. The physical laws of the universe did not exist first, they are simply the course that all other things must follow. This course was planned by the One who came before all other things. He is the uncaused--cause of everything. The mistake that many people make in regards to God--whether they will believe that He exists or is the creation of men--depends largely upon the mind that begins the search. By the time that a person reaches a certain age they have already determined their conclusions for many matters in life. If a person will know whether or not God exists, or more importantly, know Him--they must begin with a mind that is open and sincerely seeking. In any search for truth, to follow the evidence wherever it may lead, is an essential prerequisite to discovering genuine reality. It is impossible to know for certain whether anything is valid when we begin with a mindset that has already determined what the outcome will be. In matters of God, it would be wise to forget everything that we have already heard from people and take a fresh journey for ourselves. The facts are: God has made Himself known, but people do not perceive Him. The reason: God does not come to us in ways that we would expect to find Him.
From the Back Cover The Certainty of the Resurrection If Jesus did not rise from the dead, how is it that the "myth" of His resurrection has endured for over 2,000 years? Why were the first accounts of His resurrection so widely copied and distributed to the known world, if it didn't happen? Why have over 24,000 copies of these original documents survived for 20 centuries and exist today with essentially the same text as the first letters which were written immediately after Jesus was reported to have risen? How is it that critics of Jesus can claim that the Gospel accounts of His Resurrection were written at too great a distance from the time they are reported to have taken place--to be credible, when today scholars know that Matthew's Gospel was written within 28 years of the Resurrection? Why did the Christian church grow exponentially by the end of the third century--to over 56% of the world's population, if this was all just a hoax? These are a few of the hundreds of facts from history that are empirical and undeniable. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most fully documented event in the history of the world. There is no other event in the chronology of man that has greater evidence of its authenticity than the period of time in which Jesus of Nazareth came out of the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, three days after He was brutally Crucified.

I was expecting that this book would contain old testament prophecies of the Messiah and their fulfillment. I was not expecting the depth of research and personal applications for each of these prophecies. The author takes special care to make certain that the reader is well informed regarding the background for each prophecy that he illustrates. Many of the examples given for each prophecy are really chapters that seem to be designed to encourage the reader in their life. Not only did I learn a great deal about how Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies of the Messiah, I learned a great deal about the Bible in general. There are literally hundreds of important subjects that this author writes about in this book.I was impressed by the authority of each point that is made, which is supported by over 1,800 citations and references to sources that confirm points that are made throughout the book. This book is quite large and contains enough interesting information that it could be used for many years. The stories and applications for each prophecy are written in such a way that I have found many answers to questions that have long been on my mind. I did not realize that the prophecies from the old testament had such personal relevance to my life today.I have not read the entire book at this point, but enough to know that this is one of the best Christian books that I have read. It must have taken the author many years to research and compile the information that is written on these pages. I was particularly impressed with the depth of each subject that the author covers in this book. I don’t think that I have ever seen so much interesting information about the Bible in one book.My only criticism is that I wish that the author would publish this in a printed form. I would like to use this book to share with my family and friends and many of them are not interested in electronic books quite yet.
