By Judy This is a must-read book which counteracts all the negative and fear-oriented predictions and literature that has been presented to humanity for decades. As quantum physics is now proving - we create our own reality through the way we think, so any book that guides its readers onto a positive rather than a negative path of thought/creativity has got to be a winner! To quote Gordon Davidson's own words: "One of the most important uses of our creative will at this time in history is to avoid allowing ourselves to be hypnotized into believing the chaotic, dark reality being projected by the cabal-controlled media. Instead we can maintain our focus on supporting the plan unfolding in the light of higher, spiritual reality." Yes - very well said! The only way we can change the world is by changing the way we think. It's all about self-empowerment and taking full responsibility for the way we live our own life. What sort of world do we want for our future and for our children's future? It's up to us to decide on an individual basis.

In the midst of constantly being bombarded with gloom and doom, he gave us all hope for a better future for all of humankind. I highly recommend it!

By Thomas Smith I hate to rain on everyone's parade, i.e. all the 5-star reviews of this book, but after finishing the book it just seems like so much New Age pollyanna nonsense to me. Don't get me wrong--I would love to believe that there is a "Light Alliance" working on behalf of Humanity to defeat the "dark lodge" and the cabal, but the author doesn't offer much proof of this, other than his assurances and a few questionable headlines in the news. The narrative is supposedly "based on 20 years of deep meditation and contact with higher beings" yet there is nothing really new or groundbreaking here that can't readily be found from other sources on the internet. In fact, this book reads like a summary of current "alternative truth" topics found on the internet with a little "don't worry--everything is gonna be all right" pathos thrown in for good measure..I found myself questioning MANY of the author's assertions as I was reading the book, like his statement that chemtrails are being mitigated and reduced by the Light Alliance (I certainly haven't seen a reduction of chemtrails in the skies where I live); or his assertion that Pope Francis is working for the Light Alliance to reform the Catholic Church (other sources, like Cosmic Awareness, warn us that Pope Francis is not what he appears to be, and Zen Gardner on his website Wake Up World, calls the "Pope-a-Dope" an "extremely dangerous Jesuit, socialist NWO proponent and intentioned agenda-pushing puppet activist); or his statement that the Fukushima radiation "is being contained and neutralized by the Galactics" (some reports say that background radiation has increased over 600 percent since the Fukushima disaster); or his assertion that "the military is fully aligned with the Light Alliance and many officers know about the plan" (really? puh-lease!). And still another point--he blames all the unusual and severe weather on "the Earth's purification process" and does not seem to mention HAARP or weather warfare technology at all. And did you know that Clinton is a "major leader" in the Light Alliance? Really? If you read the book, "The Clintons' War on Women" reviewed here on Amazon you'll get quite a different picture of the Clintons...And one thing that I find particularly annoying about the book is that the author offers "meditations" based on the chapter that you just finished reading, but rather than place that meditation at the end of the chapter that it pertains to, he directs you to another page in the book at the end of a different chapter. He does 2 or 3 times at the beginning of the book. Why not just put the damn meditation at the end of the chapter that it refers to?Overall I feel that this book places too much emphasis on the supposed "Light Alliance" as external saviors of mankind and not enough emphasis on individuals taking personal responsibility for changing their lives and our world. There is some truth here but IMHO it is littered with much disinformation and disempowerment themes--use of extreme discernment is therefore highly recommended. For a more honest appraisal of our current dilemma on Earth I would recommend the book "Skyaia: Control or Freedom?" by Dr. Simon Atkins.

Inspirational Read By Amazon Customer "Winning the Weight Loss War" is an inspirational read that takes a look into how faith, friendships and knowledge play an integral part in the battle of weight loss. Rivka's personal story tugs at the heart of so many people who have battled weight issues for much of their life. Laughed at and made fun of by people closest to her, Rivka became her own health advocate and found what worked for her. Using her journey and struggle to get where she is today, she provides thought provoking questions throughout the book that provide great insight on actions and steps to find out what works for you. By following Rivka's guide, those who struggle can and will win the weight loss war.

Intimate, courageous and useful book that focuses on mindset rather than fad diets By Caitlin Padgett Rivka's intimate and candid portrayal of her deep-seated struggles with emotional eating and weight gain strike a cord. Yet perhaps more poignant and helpful is her description of the strategies she used to eventually shift her mindset, heal herself holistically and ultimatey lose 100 pounds. Combined with insightful reflection questions that encourage the reader to re-write their own story and apply the strategies that will work for them - this is a powerful weighloss tool like no other I have seen. Kudos to Rivka for her courage to share her story of transformation - this book will surely be an invaluable resource to other women struggling with similar issues.

Weight Loss Book for the Mind, Body and Soul By LaurenG As a registered dietitian/nutritionist, I feel this book offers newfound hope for people struggling with long standing weight and self esteem issues. It represents a paradigm shift away from focusing solely on food, calories and exercise and dives deeper into the role of the mind and emotional issues that influence weight and health. Rivka's personal story is captivating and will resonate with so many going through a similar struggle. Through deepening her spiritual connection, releasing toxic relationships, and developing a supportive social network, she was able to achieve permanent weight loss. This is the best book for beginners who don't have much knowledge of astrology. I really learnt a lot from it and it is very easy to read. After going through this book, now I have learned to cast numerous comprehensive charts for family and friends , using no other resource than this book. It is very well written, easy to follow, and organized book. If any one of you are interested in astrology and want to learn much more beyond just the sun sign astrology, then this is a must have book. This is the perfect book for newbies and I enjoyed reading it. Highly recommended to all.

The author clearly explains the stars and the planets’ alignment determines people’s zodiac sign. I’m not a fan of zodiac signs but I really appreciate this book. It discusses about the strengths, weaknesses, success, love and happiness. Some of the signs for my zodiac are pretty accurate, though few are a bit different. Still, I recommend this to those who love reading horoscopes and anything about astrological or zodiac signs. It’s not a complete guide but good enough to understand astrology.

Both Muslims and non-Muslims see women in most Muslim countries as suffering from social, economic, and political discrimination, treated by law and society as second-class citizens subject to male authority. This discrimination is attributed to Islam and Islamic law, and since the late 19th century there has been a mass of literature tackling this issue.Recently, exciting new feminist research has been challenging gender discrimination and male authority from within Islamic legal tradition: this book presents some important results from that research. The contributors all engage critically with two central juristic concepts; rooted in the Qur’an, they lie at the basis of this discrimination. One refers to a husband’s authority over his wife, his financial responsibility toward her, and his superior status and rights. The other is male family members’ right and duty of guardianship over female members (e.g., fathers over daughters when entering into marriage contracts) and the privileging of fathers over mothers in guardianship rights over their children.The contributors are scholars from different disciplines and backgrounds, brought together by Musawah (Arabic for "equality"), a global movement for equality and justice in the Muslim family.

Drawing on key religious texts and principles, "Men in Charge" pieces together the legal story of women in Islam across the ages while providing the understanding that patriarchy can be confronted. In fact by the very existence of this book, it is being confronted. These authors and researchers and NGOs involved represent a critical and increasingly growing movement of Muslims who believe in the rights and roles of women as equal citizens and who are fighting for and making change that does not go against key religious texts, but aligns society more closely with the modern expectations and values of Islam.

Amazing Book but at Times with Selective Readings of the Text and Revisionist Point of View By Sam Peter A great book that presents information based on evidences for most part. In Muslim societies actually women are in charge so I am not sure what prompted the authors to write this book. At times the book appears to be a hodgepodge logic and selective readings from sacred texts to support authors' point of view. While it is absolutely true, the dignity given by Islam to men, women, children, the elderly, the animals, and others is unmatched even today. It is also true that often cultural elements take over the religious rulings; however, to become obsessive to show that "women are equal in all manners to men" is a political motivation not religious one.In Islam some matters men get preference but in other matters women get preference.The book does not explain:* Why earlier Islamic women did not question the male leadership and service to the household? Islam has a rich assortment of amazing women who transmitted tradition and interpretations in Islam.* If everyone is equal in say and authority, how do you break a tie?* It is men in Islam who have given rights, respect and dignity to women not only in Islam but the whole world. These rights, respect and dignity were previously denied to women. Why would these men then interpret the Quran to subjugate women?* What about the verse that says that men have one degree over women which is then offset by more responsibility that men must carry as well?Good book overall.

If you're looking for compelling and intimate glimpse into the magic of ordinary lives you can find none better. The stories in The First Honeymoon carry the reader through the minefields of intimate relationships so well that it's easy to forget what an incredible job of juggling emotional states and points of view you are seeing. From the opening "Gift Horse," the painful but somehow wonderful experience of a dying mother buying her child's last present, to the title story, where simple art in the face of pomposity simply cannot be ignored, to a funny and satisfying take on morality tales via "The Tortoise and the Hare," Coffin left me breathless. A must read for students of great writing, and for anyone who loves a great read.

We are put squarely into the action between two lovers, estranged children, lost parents, mothers, daughters and incognito letter writers... immediate in the way Cheever opens The Swimmer or O'Connor starts out with A Good Man is Hard to Find. We instantly know the time, place and personae of the characters. These stories take us to familiar spaces, emotions and poignant descriptions of awkwardness we nod along with. Coffin plays with point of view, fables and quick, trim sentences that construct story lines with just enough detail, pain, humor and imagination to make them stick. A satisfying short story is a fast moving one, and these start out fast and are masterfully paced. The variety in this collection is impressive, makes this reader wanting for a more comprehensive, edited compendium some day of Lyn Coffin's short works.

About the Author Deborah Koff-Chapin, BFA Cooper Union, is an artist, vocalist, author, and teacher. She has been developing the process of Touch Drawing since she discovered it in revelatory play in 1974. Deborah is creator of the best selling decks, SoulCards 1&2 and author of Drawing Out Your Soul and The Touch Drawing Facilitator Workbook. She has produced a DVD, audio CD, slide shows, e-newsletters and online community to support the dissemination of Touch Drawing worldwide. Deborah is on the faculty of California Institute of Integral Studies, She has presented at many programs and conferences including Esalen, Naropa Institute, Omega Institute, JFK School of Arts and Consciousness, School of Visual Arts, The American Art Therapy Association, and The Association for Humanistic Psychology. Mesmerizing By Diana This is a coloring book that invites to be picked up, thumbed through, purchased, and loved because it evokes such curiosity--People will not even realized what it is at first that grabs them except that they like what they feel and will want to know more. What a treasure for people in their personal growth at their own pace one image at a time.These coloring books are not just for passing time they invite you to another dimension of coloring you might not have thought possible. Each person experiences these images differently as an energetic shift, a connection to a part of themselves, the kind that takes your breathe away and fills up your heart. Coloring the image, seeing it transform, rotating the paper to see it from many different angles evokes something beyond the ordinary experience of coloring. It is as if I have just experienced timelessness with an element of my own soul as I color. I cannot recall having ever had an experience of this kind from a coloring book. I actually made two of the images my iPhone’s lock screen and background wallpaper. Every time I pick up my phone, the eyes are staring back at me. For a split second I experience a knowing with the image, even in the midst of scheduling my work. This series of books is a must have and will give you joy exponentially.

They showcase some of her drawings from over the years and offer us a new way of exploring ourselves through Deborah's offerings. If you DO NOT know about Touch Drawing and Deborah's life's work then this is a great way to be introduced to it! The images are stunning and mysterious and longing to be completed by your hands and heart! The act of coloring is so healthy on so many levels. Coloring engages the brain in new ways. It calms the mind and body and it stimulates creativity. Coloring these images that speak to the soul taps into another level of our well-being. They draw out our heart-centeredness and our soulful selves. There is a meditative quality and a healing quality to self expression through art and art can be this simple. Just open up the book...get some crayons and color! Fun to do alone in a meditative way or with a group of friends. Every page is a new experience! Get all the books! Highly recommended for soulful seekers and artistic explorers of all types!

For example, sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. This book will give you a full information about what sleep is all about, stages of sleep, the myths of sleep, signs of being deprived from sleep, benefits of sleep, different sleep problem and last but not the least the tricks of having a good sleep.What I love about this book is that Chris Baird really made it easy for the readers to follow some of his useful tips on how to get a good sleep Let us all remember that adults need at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night to work at our best. And children needs 12-18hrs of sleep and the number drops to 7.5-9hrs after the age of 18.

It also touches on the contributing factors of sleep deprivation and its effects. This is a very informative book, the suggested strategies for better sleep are simple, relevant and effective. Great book, the ideas are genuine and honest, this is very beneficial to those suffering from sleep deprivation.

About the Author Cornelius Van Til (1895 1987) was born in Grootegast, the Netherlands, and immigrated with his family to America in 1905. He attended Calvin College and Calvin Seminary before completing his studies at Princeton Theological Seminary and Princeton University with the ThM and PhD degrees.Drawn to the pastorate, Van Til spent one year in the ministry before taking a leave of absence to teach apologetics at Princeton Seminary. When the seminary reorganized, he was persuaded to join the faculty of the newly founded Westminster Theological Seminary. He remained there as professor of apologetics until his retirement in 1975.Van Til wrote more than twenty books, in addition to more than thirty syllabi. Among his best-known titles are The Defense of the Faith, A Christian Theory of Knowledge, and An Introduction to Systematic Theology.K. Scott Oliphint (MAR, ThM, PhD, Westminster Theological Seminary) is professor of apologetics and systematic theology at Westminster Seminary, Philadelphia. He has written numerous journal articles in the field of apologetics and is a world authority on the works of Cornelius Van Til. Scott Oliphint offers a helpful and lengthy foreword and clarifying footnotes that illuminate this important work and provide a valuable aid for its comprehension, especially for those less familiar with Van Til’s thought. Van Til is probably most known for epistemology and apologetics, yet Oliphint in the foreword notes that “the foundation for everything Van Til sets forth is his thoroughly biblical and Reformed theology” (vii). Furthermore, Van Til begins his thinking about everything, including common grace, with the ontological trinity; “the reality of God as God must be the assumption and controlling reality behind everything else that is said” (ix, emphasis original). Oliphint spends the bulk of the foreword explaining and discussing the three themes that permeate Common Grace and the Gospel: fearless anthropomorphism, concrete thinking, and limiting concepts.In the first essay Van Til provides a brief survey of the principles of Christian philosophy, which will help in understanding the literature dealing with common grace. He also highlights the main issues in the common grace debate of his day and shows that the question has no simple solution. Furthermore, through this essay we see the necessity and importance of both affirming and being critical of those who affirm common grace as well as those who deny it. The second essay looks at Abraham Kuyper’s doctrine of common grace, investigating its general characteristics and then examining its positive and negative aspects before bringing these together into one concept. In bringing the two aspects together Van Til states, “In a general way we may affirm that, for Kuyper, common grace is primarily a restraining power of God, working either with or without man as an instrument, by which the original creation powers of the universe are given an opportunity for a certain development to the glory of God” (25). Van til also comments on the opposition from Herman Hoeksema and Henry Danhof and the three points at the center of that common grace debate.Chapter 3 is by far the longest, weighing in at 83 pages. Here Van Til first provides a brief survey of the “recent” common grace debate, focusing on the reconstructionists (D. K. Schilder). The bulk of this chapter is in the second part, suggestions for the future. Van Til deals first with the danger of abstract thinking, applying the analysis to the Kuyper-Bavinck form of theological statement itself and noting the remnants of abstract thinking present in the epistemology of Kuyper, Bavinck, and Hepp. Second, Van Til addresses the positive line of concrete thinking, noting the importance of stressing the idea of the earlier and the later and the need to be fealessly anthropomorphic. “A fearless anthropomorphism based on the doctrine of the ontological trinity, rather than abstract reasoning on the basis of a metaphysical and epistemological correlativism, should control our concepts all along the line” (111).In the next essay, “Particularism and Common Grace,” Van Til puts forth a standard objection to the Reformed doctrine of election and posits a hypothetical conference of Christian theologians, Roman Catholic and Protestant, orthodox Protestant and modern Protestant, tradtional Protestant and dialectical Protestant, to see who they would reply to this objector. He notes in particular those who speak for Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, Arminius, Schleiermacher, Ritschl, and Barth. In the end, the objector is left with only the representative of Calvin. In the fifth essay Van Til continues to address objection to election, looking at Barthian, Romanist, and Remonstrant views of common grace. He concludes this essay explicitly affirming a point that’s beneath the surface at all times in this volume – the importance of holding a balanced view of common grace that neither veers to the right by denying common grace nor strays to the left by affirming a theory of common grace patterned after natural theology.The next essay is a response to William Masselink’s Common Grace and Christian Education. Here Van Til responds to criticisms such as teaching absolute depravity rather than total depravity and holding to an absolutist position out of accord with the Reformed confessions. In the seventh essay, another response to criticism from Masselink, Van Til tackles the charges that he begins his system of thought with the idea of the Absolute Ethical Antithesis and that the laws of logic have been destroyed in the sinner. Chapter 8 is a review of Herman Hoeksema’s Reformed Dogmatics that originally appeared in The Westminster Theological Journal in 1968. The main idea that Van Til addresses in this review is whether Hoeksema’s work was helpful in maintaining the biblical teaching of the total depravity of man and the sovereign grace of God. He concludes that “Hoeksema did not succeed in advancing the cause of biblical and Reformed theology at the points of the ‘remnants,’ the ‘proofs,’ and the image of God” (251). Finally, in the last chapter, Van Til examines neo-orthodoxy and Jochem Douma’s comparison of the views of Kuyper, Schilder, and Calvin. This essay and the book as a whole concludes with the following:"The gospel of God’s sovereign grace to men can be presented to men for what it is in all its saving power only and alone if it is presented as being a challenge to repentance to the natural man at every point of his interest. Oliphint also provides very helpful footnotes throughout the volume that explain possibly unfamiliar terms, clarify areas of Van Til’s thought that have been misunderstood, and notes categories and ideas central to his theology and apologetic. Excellent Volume on Common Grace with an Excellent Forward By Chris Ho Those who are in the reformed circles for some time, will quickly be aware of the importance of Cornelius Van Til. And If you have dabble into various works by the students of Van Til (Frame, Oliphint, etc), you would often see them refer to this work by Van Til. However, you would quickly realised that this book was last published in the 1970s, that is until now.P&R Publishing has very recently republished this very title, and so I eagerly picked up this book to read and review it. This book has been one of the most enlightening and thought-provoking book on common grace I have read so far. 7 to 49K. Scott Oliphint has written an excellent forward for this book that alone is worth the price of the book. The forward is around 40 pages, which spells out clearly what the Van Til will address within the book. For any readers who intends to read this book, it is recommended that you do not skip the forward. Instead take time to read through the forward which will be a sure guide for the book.As the readers of the book will quickly see, Van Til is addressing what he sees to be incorrect understanding of common grace by Kuyper, Dooyeweerd, Vollenhoven, Schilder and Herman Hoeksema. As compared to other writings by Van Til, this is surprisingly very readable. What one will take away from reading this book is how Van Til desires to remain faithful to the Word of God, not matter what. He is willingly to disagree when scripture shows clearly that they are wrong.Well this book is surprisingly readable as compared to Van Til’s some other book, it can be difficult to follow at times. But for those who reflect deeply on what Van Til has written, they will benefit much from this valuable volume.Recommended for those who wants to have a good understanding of common grace, however this book is not meant to be an introduction to those who are unfamiliar to the topic. Excellent discussion By Doug Erlandson In "Common Grace and the Gospel," Cornelius Van Til discusses a range of issues dealing with the presentation of the Gospel from a biblical and Reformed perspective. In a nutshell the question with which he deals is, "How can we freely offer the Gospel when both those who will accept it and those who will reject it have been eternally ordained by God?"Van Til discusses this and a variety of related issues under the backdrop of the matter of common grace. Unlike some in the Reformed community rejects the idea of common grace entirely, Van Til accepts its existence. Indeed, without common grace we would be entirely incapable of even intellectually understanding the Gospel. Therefore, despite the fact that apart from Christ and the transformative work of the Spirit we are dead in trespasses and sins and have no capacity to respond to the Gospel, our intellects are still able to process the message.For Van Til, then, common grace is necessary if we are to make sense of the idea of the free offer of the Gospel.
