Review "Warm scenes of Southern hospitality create a cozy environment for exploring the sometimes prickly topics of interpersonal relationships with characters that ring true. " "The "southern" part of this book is hilarious, the characters are true to life, quirky and funny. "

About the Author Kelly Baugh grew up as a true Colorado mountain girl, but spent many of her summers with her Mama Jean and Nana, drinking sweet tea and watching fireflies after the sun went down. As an adult, her adventures have taken her from war-torn Kosovo to the mountains of Nepal to the drama of the Terrible Twos and everything in between. These experiences have given her a rich reservoir of experiences and people to draw from in her writing. For the moment she resides in Colorado again with her husband, two children and two hyper huskies.

The characters are developed in a way that you can either identify with them or ascribe their behavior to people you know. The main characters are believable and their actions quite likely. The “mystery” of the book isn't terribly difficult to solve, but the dramatic irony of the Lee not knowing the background and you guessing it shows how we, in real life respond to what's going on around us. The dynamic between John Hunter, Caralee and Kiki clearly demonstrates that “love is blind, but the neighbors aren't.”Throughout the book you are transported to a culture that reminds you to sit on the porch and watch what's going on outside. Being from Colorado, the part that made me laugh the most was the difference in menu items in the beginning of the book. The grieving process, the subtle humor and the family dynamics are all carefully woven in and it makes the story line “real.” It's a very refreshing and uplifting book. This is a story that I will undoubtedly read again on a rainy day or when I want a reminder to slow down a little and appreciate the craziness that is family.Miss You Once Again will sit in a place on my bookshelf with my other “read at least once a year” books.

What if you wanted to see your family with different eyes? What if a loved one’s spirit could guide you to the love you were meant to find? Miss You Once Again begins with a sad death, but readers will delight in the new life that marks the end of this satisfying novel. Warm scenes of Southern hospitality create a cozy environment for exploring the sometimes prickly topics of interpersonal relationships with characters that ring true. Ms. Baugh has a special gift for dialogue, while the added layer of the omniscient spirit voice keeps the reader rooting for plans to reunite old flames and repair damaged family ties. As the author says in her introduction, “Families are wonderful, crazy and messy, but they are the most beautiful thing on earth.” This book pays wonderful homage to that statement. Highly recommended.

Fell instantly in love with Johnathan Hunter and found Lee's endearing flaws a perfect mix. Timeless in its concept, this story made me think of my own grandmother more than once. I found myself smiling along as it woke memories I myself have as s girl of moments spent with my grandmother and dressing up in her fancy clothes and enjoying her southern hospitality. It solidified for me the importance and value of family and roots – to know where you come from and know that you can always hold home in your heart.
