It is small book but actually quite nice and easy to carry with you. I am not sure if I believe the "spiritual" information on each page - but I have to admit, I found that spiritual information to be rather interesting.The book is full of scientific information also. So - with this pocket edition you get a little bit of everything. I am really glad I purchased it.

This is definitely pocket sized and contains a bit more stones than Judy Hall's Crystal Bible 2. I like flipping through it and learning about the different qualities, etc. about each stone that piques my interest.

About the Author Gilbert Keith Chesterton was born in London, England, in 1874. He went on to study art at the Slade School, and literature at University College in London. Chesterton wrote a great deal of poetry, as well as works of social and literary criticism. Among his most notable books are "The Man Who Was Thursday", a metaphysical thriller, and "The Everlasting Man", a history of humankind's spiritual progress. After Chesterton converted to Catholicism in 1922, he wrote mainly on religious topics such as "Orthodoxy" and "Heretics". Chesterton is most known for creating the famous priest-detective character Father Brown, who first appeared in "The Innocence of Father Brown". Chesterton died in 1936 at the age of 62.

Enjoyable disagreement By Melody Green Since Chesterton and Shaw so vehemently disagreed with each other on many topics, one would expect this quick text to be filled with antagonism. Instead, it is a delightful explanation of Shaw's background, biography and beliefs, told in a gentle, light-hearted manner. Chesterton shows a great respect for his adversary, while making clear his own views through quite a few of the one-sentence quotables for which he is well known.

Like the majority of Chesterton's biographies, this book won't tell you many "facts" about GBS, but it will present a solid, complete, and enjoyable picture of Shaw as a man: giving his opinions and criticizing them. I only give it three stars because the page layout is - frankly - defective. The print is offset to the outer side of each page. If you can ignore this (I cannot), the book is perfectly accessible.

There is a lot of information covered in the 304 pages, but it is a quick read. It is one of those books that make you want to read a little and then spend a couple of days mulling over what you read and what it means to your life. For me, those are the best kinds of books.I really enjoyed reading the first section of this book about the Ten Foundations. In fact, I thought they were so interesting and thought-provoking that it could be an entire book on its own. Reese and Barnett spend a great deal of time explaining each foundation and examples of what they look like in real life.Some books are good about explaining information and others are good about giving advice on changing the way you look at things and live. This book gives good information and then very specific information on how to apply those ideas in our daily lives. It is the best kind of non-fiction book!Whether you agree with the ideas in the book or not, this is a very thought-provoking, revolutionary book. From the Author Just under a year ago on zen retreat, during the first morning meditation (candles lit, incense rising), I felt a rush of love move up my body and (silently, viscerally) say: "Get up early. Every day. Write poems again. A book is coming." My son, Lundin, was eight months old at the time.  The idea of writing a book seemed possibly insane.I hadn't written many poems for over a decade since my college thesis. But something about that call from who-knows-where in meditation that morning put me under a spell - of sheer curiosity for what I'd find if I actually followed through. Not in my head, but actually. Not in fantasy, but with my real, tired, working-mothering self every damn, glorious morning. As an experiment, I began summoning myself out of bed (too) early, trying not to wake my husband and son.  In the dark, I'd rise and sneak-fumble to a hot cup of coffee and the blank page. It often somehow felt like my first and/or last day alive. What is there to say from that perspective?  Sometimes, nothing at all.  I would sit and stare in dumb wonderment. Something about that holy hour before dawn and the confrontation with the page just brought me to my knees. But sometimes, voices came to meet me - either my own at its most human or, in some cases, voices I don't quite recognize as my own that spoke to and through me in the early hours.  These voices have kept my heart soft and my laughter strong through tired and mundane moments.  They've kept me sane and inspired, and that's why I'm compelled to share them with you. These voices are good company, and I regard them as real friends. So writing this book has not felt like a choice, really. I have participated as fully as possible with something that's felt inevitable and necessary: uncovering my own unique conversation with inspiration.  I still can't say what it is exactly.  But for me it is worth living for and worth dying for, and I vow to hunt, seduce, and share it.  My wish for Feed Your Vow is that the sweet, hard-won inspiration I encountered in writing it becomes contagious for you as you enter and explore it. This is the magic that truly feeds my vow. Thank you from the center of my heart.

About the Author Brooke McNamara holds a BA in Creative Writing (Poetry) and an MFA in Dance.  She teaches Yoga on faculty at Naropa University and is a lecturer in Dance at the University of Colorado, Boulder.  She is ordained as a monk and empowered as an Integral Dharma Holder in the Zen Buddhist lineage of Diane Musho Hamilton, Sensei.  Brooke has danced professionally for over a decade and written poems since a young age.  She received the Charles B. I imagine that this By DLans00 McNamara has helped me to resonate with poetry in a brand new way. Her carefully chosen words captivate me and take me on a powerful ride. At times I feel moved to cry and laugh as I flow through the journey of a single poem. When I read McNamara's words, I feel validated and understood at my core--her words capture the essence of this human life so beautifully. I imagine that this book would make a wonderful gift for those you want to offer your heart to, in a way that only deeply resonant and inspiring art can. McNamara's words will undoubtedly become a deep healer for you; they offer a warm lover's hug in the cold winter.

This is beside the desk poetry. Not the quick-faux-inspirational-cat-on-a-poster kind but the-carry-in-my backpack-read-one-between-meetings-for-a-quick-and-real-life-surge kind. The roll-one-sentence-around -in-your-mouth-and -heart kind. The send-to-a-best-friend-with-a-new-baby kind. The write-on-paper-and eat-secretly kind. There are many ways to feed your vow, McNamara gives us pages of prose, a spoon and a fork, and says "Open Wide."

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. One poem and I already found myself falling into fullness By Robert Mcnamara I've just begun reading this lovely book. Stuart's foreword is one of the most immersive and gripping forewords I have ever read. The first poem I read flowered something exquisite inside my mind. By the time I finished reading this prose the conventional barriers of my mind had been gently tumbled aside. I found my awareness settled into a more vivid and liberated seat inside myself. This book is going to be a part of my daily life - one poem a day - for "falling into fullness" as Brooke calls it. That's been my experience thus far. Enjoy!
