With just two fingers from each hand, the healing process can begin. Bio-Touch: Healing with the Power in Our Fingertips is the story of the scientifically-proven, touch-based healing technique proven to alleviate pain, stress, the symptoms of disease, and depression. Debra Schildhouse, an initial skeptic, is drawn to Bio-Touch after feeling helpless to do anything for her daughter’s agonizing headaches from a mysterious illness. Her search for a method to heal others’ pain gradually becomes an inner journey of personal healing as she opens her mind and eventually becomes a certified instructor and practitioner of Bio-Touch. In tandem with her own story, Schildhouse recounts Bio-Touch founder Paul Bucky’s journey as he follows his spiritual path to the discovery of Bio-Touch. Throughout the narrative Schildhouse relates miraculous stories of healing. Touching and often funny, Bio-Touch draws together the many invisible bonds of the universe linking us all together.

I assumed the book would contain a good bit of information about the Bio-Touch technique with that title. But it's mainly a biography of the co-founder of the Bio-Touch Center, Paul Bucky, and a brief history of his Bio-Touch Centers. It also tells the story of why the author decided to learn this technique and some of her experiences while using it. This might be of interest to people who have been positively impacted by Bio-Touch or Paul's life, but not so much to someone who has never heard of them before.I did glean that Bio-Touch mainly decreases stress and pain and increases energy and relaxation, but I was very disappointed that the reader is told so little about the actual system.I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

By Anonymous As an avid book reader, first and foremost I love to read books written by storytellers--books with interesting characters (real or fictional), rich in details, and that draw me into a compelling story (again, real or fictional), and with well-written prose. Author Debra Schildhouse is an excellent storyteller! Written in the first person, Debra's book is on one hand a series of short stories about Debra, Paul Bucky (co-founder of Bio-Touch), Bio-Touch, and Debra's many experiences as a certified practitioner of Bio-Touch, and on the other hand a fluid thread of experiences that serve well as a single story--the story of Bio-Touch and its promise as a technique that promotes personal health. Often I found myself chuckling at the stories Debra tells, and at times I felt the emotional tug at my heart. Kudos to the author on her first book! And, Kudos to Debra, Paul, and the Bio-Touch organization for their efforts--entirely on a volunteer basis--to offer Bio-Touch, a simple and effective touch-healing technique that everyone, even a child, can learn and practice effectively, to anyone interested in a complementary approach to health care.

A Charming Story of Life Paths By Bill Black As lifespans increase, medical practices which diagnosis disease and repair injuries may have shortcomings. One of these is residual or reoccurring pain which can trouble both the patient and their family. An event of this type triggered Debra Schildhouse to seek ways to ease the pain of her daughter. Her path to this knowledge and practice is the core of this story of Bio-Touch. As she explains her path, she also provides the story of the person currently leading and teaching this pain relief method, Paul Bucky. Her presentation of the story shows two different variations of the hero’s path reaching a common goal. Debra has a gift of sharing the stories almost seamlessly across decades of personal history leading to the Bio-Touch organization currently in Tucson. Debra is not teaching the method or providing its basis which might be desired by those hoping to use it. While she does provide ways to obtain that information, she concentrates on the origin and creation of the Bio-Touch method. It was Debra’s desire to be able to relieve pain and perhaps cure injury which led her to this method. Her journey has moments of heart breaking sadness and pain interspersed with an almost self-deprecatingly humorous way of describing her training and early work in Bio-Touch. Her teacher of the method is Paul Bucky. We meet him through a series of interviews that Debra conducts for this book. It is tempting to describe him as one of the last vagabonds of the hippie era, although the described times in Colorado and Hawaii belie that definition. The Colorado era becomes an almost modern pioneering effort creating a community. The Hawaii period seems almost a missionary role. It was interesting to see that he did not claim to invent the method, but rather helped teach what he had learned. Although those interested in this as a method of pain relief may be the main audience of the book, the dual stories of Schildhouse and Bucky provide an enjoyable experience for a reader of informal and storytelling based biography.
